The Best Dorm Beds in Phnom Penh
Getting a decent dorm bed in Phnom Penh can be quite an adventure, due to the very nature of dorms (They must normally be cheap) you are just as likely to find yourself thrust into a room with those skinny foam mattresses on the ground and told you can “sleep here” for $7.00 a night. Not so at The Mad Monkey in Phnom Penh, where it has to be said our dorm beds offer a completely different experience.
Firstly it is important to note that our dorms are mixed dorms, they all have a fan unit aimed at each large bunk bed. There is enough space on the bottom and top bunk to sit up due to the high ceilings in the dorm rooms.
We have three Dorm Rooms - Each have six beds
The mattresses are also huge, they will certainly be the largest mattresses you have ever slept on in a dorm room, each one is just inches of being a double size which means you can roll over during the night and still have a decent nights sleep.
Each of our dorm rooms comes with its own en-suite bathroom, plus an overflow bathroom. Dorms sleep six people in configurations of three large metal bunk beds in each of the dorm rooms.
We have two dorm options, our Canopy level dorm is next to the bar level, this is an ideal place to stay if you are a bar fly – even so you will find that the music is off around 11.30 pm every night and the bar empties out around 12am allowing people to go to another bar or fall asleep in the dorm. The other six bedroom dorm is located on the Habitat level which is away from the bar area and also provides the same large bed facilities.
All of our dorms are mixed, there are no male or female dorms as we think its good to meet other backpackers and travellers whilst in country.
